Two of the rooms are situated on the ground floor and are therefore, suitable for disabled accommodation

Ten years gone:
Hugo and Pippa Woolley moved into Woodlands Country House in March 2002, in a howling gale and lashing rain. They had three weeks to paint, decorate and re-furnish the house in time for their first guests – a British couple who had just returned from a mission in China! Pippa had always said she and Hugo would make magnificent breakfasts and were very disappointed when their very first guests said they will not be having breakfast – just the bill! But then – as the years passed by, not only did Hugo and Pippa enjoyed cooking lovely breakfasts for their guests, they also managed to gather a reputation and accolades for their Cornish breakfasts — Hugo even wrote a book about breakfast called ‘B&B – The Book of Breakfast and Brunch.’ visit www.bandbbook.co.uk
From the start the Woolleys wanted their guests to be comfortable. They spent a lot of money on mattresses and bedding. The Italian linen is Frette – 200 count Egyptian cotton - the best you can buy, the towels are the largest and fluffiest and the bathrooms have lovely Gilchrist and Soames toiletries and soaps. Woodlands Country House have ensured their guests will not want for anything and they will have all the information they ever need to ensure they know what is going on in their bit of Cornwall, places to walk with wonderful views and endless great places to eat in and around Padstow. They have kept up with technology; flat-screen televisions, DVD players and a DVD library, WiFi throughout the house and an on-line booking system. Now they are trying to get to grips with Twitter and other 21st century communication tools.
Woodlands Country House has seen total change over the ten years. There has been some extensive decoration and refurbishment. They started off with eleven rooms, all with en-suite showers and all with horrible brown tiles. Now there are eight stylish and individually decorated en-suite bedrooms.
The reception rooms like the Blue Room, the entrance hall and the stairs have been redecorated in Victorian colours, the endless ‘bobbly’ wallpaper removed and the old beading and cornices brought back to life. New flooring and carpeting throughout. In the future we want to extend the ground-floor rooms and add a shower cubicle to the Jade Room.
Finally, Pippa and Hugo have found over the last ten years, guests enjoy the security of seeing their hosts whenever they come to stay. Along with the invaluable assistance of Rosy, the numerous regular guests know that they have arrived home from home. Woodlands Country House will do anything to ensure their guests have a comfortable, restful and enjoyable stay – accommodation and breakfast with a touch of splendour.
Here’s to the next ten years!
